Well its been a few weeks now since we last wrote and heaps has been happening! I sort of realized for the first time the other day that we have been on the move all over the place since we got married! We are still on the scout for jobs and an apartment in Geneva, we haven't found anything yet....BUT...God has been so faithful to us in the process and has been providing for us and encouraging us along the way.
We have made some great contacts with the church in Geneva where we got married and we have met several very interesting people who have such a heart for the city. I have also applied for a job there working as their part time secretary/admin person which would be a great job for me as it would give me a platform to start getting involved in other church ministries and stuff going on in Geneva...so please be praying for me about this job - that if it is what God would have for me, that I would get it. I went for an interview with them last friday and the church council will be deciding about who gets the position on the 29th of August...so if you could be praying, I would really appreciate it!
Andy and I are at the Lausanne YWAM base at the moment for several days while he helps them out with some of their website needs and programming...it was funny because we were heading back to the YWAM Burtigny base last week to stay for a few days when all of a sudden a friend of ours from the Lausanne base said they were planning on asking Andy to come and work here for a couple weeks...so we changed direction and headed there at the last minute. We seem to be learning flexibility on a moment's notice over the past few months! However, being in Lausanne is a great blessing - Andy is able to work with some friends of ours in a team situation which is very refreshing for him after having worked on computer/network stuff for Burtigny pretty much alone.
We just found out that we will be able to stay at a friend's apartment just near the YWAM campus in Burtigny for the next 2 months until the end of October. She is going away to Africa and asked if we wanted to be in her apartment, which is great provision for us and something completely unexpected! God is certainly meeting our needs for accommodation even though it isnt what we expected.
At church the other day I was chatting with a couple who came to Geneva in May and when we shared with them that we are in the middle of moving to the Geneva area and looking for an apartment and jobs, they looked at us with such empathy! They were in exactly our situation and it took them 10 months to find an apartment...so I don't know whether that was supposed to be encouraging or just help us see the difficulty and reality of the situation and that it is still early for us!
Oh well! We just have to keep knocking on the doors and trust for God's perfect timing for one to open.
Please keep us in your prayers. We really need to see God do a breakthrough in providing for us financially as well as for accommodation in the longrun. But even more importantly I would really ask that you stand with us in prayer to know what God is saying to us in terms of direction, vision and goals for our future. We really need to see God's heart for us in this time and be able to press into him for encouragement and wisdom in our decision making.
We love hearing from you and keeping in touch, its such a joy and privilege to know you and call you friends!
Many blessings,
Rachael and Andy
